Speaker:Your next chapter starts now.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: You are listening to the Creative Minds
Speaker:Smart Money Podcast and today I have a special guest, Kelly with us from
Speaker:burned out nine to five corporate girl who literally worked on her
Speaker:daughter's wedding day on the drive to the chapel, to getting time freedom
Speaker:and money freedom with her business.
Speaker:She hit 110 K in less than a year with less than a thousand followers.
Speaker:She has a DHD, which most creatives do, and have come up with ways to manage
Speaker:her business without working 24 7.
Speaker:How are you today, Kelly?
Speaker:It's so good to have you here.
Speaker:Thank you.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: you for having me.
Speaker:I'm
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I'm,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: How are you?
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I'm good.
Speaker:It's this beautiful sunny day in Texas as always.
Speaker:So why don't you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit
Speaker:more about you and what you do.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Absolutely.
Speaker:So you're a female business owner, so you know
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: business owners we are like trying to
Speaker:build these businesses, spinning a million plates, keeping the household running.
Speaker:Everything tends to fall on our shoulders from figuring out birthdays,
Speaker:to organizing holidays, to running these big businesses of ours.
Speaker:And we feel overwhelmed, like 47 tabs open.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: of unread emails.
Speaker:We're having bills paid late, like we just are having such a struggle
Speaker:to just keep all of the plates spinning all at the same time.
Speaker:So I basically help female entrepreneurs.
Speaker:Build the business of their dreams without sacrificing their personal life.
Speaker:So having this beautiful balance between building and scaling, but also living in
Speaker:alignment with what we say is important.
Speaker:So I'm a business coach.
Speaker:I have a DHD, like you said, and I realize that I. Our brains work very differently
Speaker:than men's brains, and so we're never just doing one thing at a time.
Speaker:We're doing one thing, but also distracted by 57.
Speaker:Other
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: we tend to ping pong a lot, and I
Speaker:knew pretty quickly that the normal corporate systems for businesses don't
Speaker:work very well for female entrepreneurs.
Speaker:So I was a certified director of operations.
Speaker:I worked as a fraction fractional director of ops inside of lots of small businesses.
Speaker:They had teams.
Speaker:So even though they were small businesses, we're talking at least
Speaker:seven figures a year in revenue and teams of five at minimum.
Speaker:And when I, so I started walk like Warriors as a faith-based page.
Speaker:It was just a creative outlet.
Speaker:I don't really know what my intention was with it.
Speaker:I just realized.
Speaker:all these people scale their businesses, and I don't even have an online presence.
Speaker:I mean, I had a website, but it was like a landing page website.
Speaker:So I just started to kind of play and dabble, and one thing
Speaker:led to another and someone slid into my dms, will you coach me?
Speaker:And I said, you're gonna die.
Speaker:I was like, no, I don't do that.
Speaker:And then the next day someone else was like, Hey, will you be my business coach?
Speaker:I was like, I, I mean, I was coaching small business owners, but I
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it had scaled pretty large and had teams.
Speaker:And so after the third or fourth person, my mentor said
Speaker:to me, why are you saying no?
Speaker:You should just try it.
Speaker:And so then the business just exploded.
Speaker:December 31st, 2023, I closed the director of ops business and went all in on being
Speaker:a business coach to female entrepreneurs who are on the struggle bus with their
Speaker:business and balancing all the things.
Speaker:It's not like we're not capable, we're
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: we're capable, but we're
Speaker:doing so many things.
Speaker:We're overwhelmed and we're not totally sure how to scale without working 24 7.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:Yeah, I feel that 110% and I feel that's so common because you're right.
Speaker:We do have so much that's going on within our minds and I can tell
Speaker:you from experience, my husband has a lot less on his mind than I do.
Speaker:That doesn't mean he doesn't care.
Speaker:It's just that we think of everything at once instead of focusing
Speaker:on just one thing at a time.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Exactly.
Speaker:I like to say when your husband is, for example, if he was gonna be paying his
Speaker:quarter, his estimated quarterly taxes,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: is paying his estimated
Speaker:quarterly taxes when you do it.
Speaker:The cat is crying.
Speaker:So you open the door for the cat, the school calls.
Speaker:So you're like trying, oh my gosh, I forgot to pack the lunch.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: fair is next week.
Speaker:I forgot to put that in the target order.
Speaker:I need it.
Speaker:So like you are doing the one thing, but you're also thinking of 57 things.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: doesn't mean we're smarter.
Speaker:It doesn't mean men are smarter.
Speaker:It's sort of like the whole spaghetti or waffle brains.
Speaker:So women have spaghetti brains.
Speaker:Everything is.
Speaker:Tangled up together, very
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: that serves us really well.
Speaker:Men, waffle brain, when he is in his paying the taxes
Speaker:box, that's the box he's in.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: tend to say, can't you hear the doorbell?
Speaker:And they're like, no, because they
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: the doorbell.
Speaker:We hear everything and see everything and feel everything and like
Speaker:are thinking about everything.
Speaker:And so it doesn't make one better or worse.
Speaker:But when it comes to running a small business,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it can be our superpower.
Speaker:But quite often it's.
Speaker:like to say it's a lot more like our kryptonite, and so our
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: isn't growing we're holding so much
Speaker:stuff in our head at all times, and that usually leads to ping
Speaker:ponging between activities all day.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:I love that.
Speaker:Well, most entrepreneurs believe that working longer hours does equal more
Speaker:success, but why is this a trap and what's the reality behind true profitability?
Speaker:I.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I love this
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Love this question because
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: It's sort of
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: sort of like how we all say,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: number of followers on
Speaker:Instagram doesn't equal income.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: We say it, we do tend to think that
Speaker:person with 3 million followers has more income than someone with 3000 followers.
Speaker:So we say it, we know that that's not true, but we act like it is true.
Speaker:And so the same exact principle applies.
Speaker:We say we know that busyness does not equal success.
Speaker:We don't actually live our life like that.
Speaker:And we're doing a lot.
Speaker:And a marker of this is are busy flipping day.
Speaker:Like, just like literally just moving as fast as we possibly can.
Speaker:Cross three things off the to-do list, add 10 more.
Speaker:But at the end of the day when our head hits the pillow, we're like,
Speaker:okay, I know I was busy all day.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: When I'm trying to think of all the stuff
Speaker:I was doing, I really can't categorize it.
Speaker:I don't even know how to explain all the things.
Speaker:I don't even remember some of the stuff I was doing, and so are
Speaker:so many things that we're doing.
Speaker:I. That it, I, I don't like
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Don't
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: are like, just work on
Speaker:income producing activities.
Speaker:Well, that must be nice for you.
Speaker:The rest of us, we're running businesses and not everything
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: everything.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: producing.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I don't like that is the mark of like
Speaker:the demarcation because like that doesn't actually apply especially to solopreneurs.
Speaker:Or as like a one person show who's got like a VA or a social media
Speaker:manager or a bookkeeper, you are still doing a lot of stuff that's not
Speaker:income producing and that's not bad.
Speaker:What I
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: doing is the stuff that matters, and
Speaker:I. Because of the ping ponging and the, I open up Instagram to answer dms, but
Speaker:then I realized I didn't send my email.
Speaker:Then I realized I never paid my quarterly taxes and then I real,
Speaker:and so like we're doing that all day long, so there's so much cognitive
Speaker:load there, which slows us down.
Speaker:But also it's estimated that we lose 17 minutes every time we task switch.
Speaker:So we're busy, but a lot of that busyness.
Speaker:Is we don't realize it.
Speaker:It's not like you would say, oh yeah, I wasted approximately three and a
Speaker:half hours today because I was going back and forth between activities.
Speaker:But when you can't recall what you did that day, that's actually what's
Speaker:happening is you don't realize that there's a lot of wasted time in there.
Speaker:And so that's where I really like to get female entrepreneurs.
Speaker:Thinking in terms of like buckets.
Speaker:Like I theme my day, so Monday is admin day, and Tuesday is content creation day.
Speaker:Or for
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it would be like podcast day.
Speaker:And so instead of like, most people are like, oh, I batch my tasks.
Speaker:I don't do that.
Speaker:I actually batch my whole day.
Speaker:And it allows us to operate in our zone of genius, our spaghetti brain, but
Speaker:still stay inside of the right bucket.
Speaker:So we're playing in the same sandbox all day instead of
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: And then we can't remember
Speaker:all the places we went, so.
Speaker:when women start to build their business like that, my average graduate reports
Speaker:saving eight hours and 15 minutes a week.
Speaker:A week.
Speaker:Like
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: That's crazy.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: so much less.
Speaker:And you know, people are like, well, how did you do that?
Speaker:It must be magic.
Speaker:No, when she sits down to work, she's got an ordered list.
Speaker:This is getting done.
Speaker:And it also, the really cool thing, this is what makes my heart happy.
Speaker:They're like, I'm more present with my kids now.
Speaker:Because you're not thinking about work.
Speaker:The problem with entrepreneurship is we never feel done, right?
Speaker:Like we
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: feel done.
Speaker:It's just like brain is just going.
Speaker:And so by, by our days, not our tasks, it's actually like, whew.
Speaker:How well done Samantha, you're done for the day.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: off that CEO hat and now you're with
Speaker:the kids and you don't have to be thinking about all the other things.
Speaker:'cause it's sort of like my grandma used to say , a place for everything
Speaker:and everything in its place.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: So
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I like
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I like to say
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: day for
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: for everything.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: inside.
Speaker:Its day.
Speaker:And it's just, it's really powerful.
Speaker:So it really gets us evaluating what needs to be shed, because there's a lot
Speaker:of stuff we do that doesn't actually need to be done and what needs to be added.
Speaker:The stuff that, and I have a whole soapbox about a lot of female
Speaker:entrepreneurs are not taught, what needs to be done to build the business.
Speaker:And so they resort to, which crushes me, just endless content
Speaker:creation, which is such a time
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: and.
Speaker:I just, I, I mean, I
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I mean,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: on for five hours just about that,
Speaker:but I, I'm sure you have other
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: you have other questions to ask,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it's sort of
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: sort of like,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Shop of Horrors,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Feed me See more.
Speaker:That's how I view Instagram and content creation.
Speaker:It's just like, feed me.
Speaker:I'm
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: full.
Speaker:And it's like, if we're not careful, we're spending a ton of time on something.
Speaker:That's very, like, we're not getting leverage from it, but
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: weren't taught anything else to
Speaker:do, so we keep falling back on the one thing that's not working and
Speaker:it's taking up most of our time.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:No, I a hundred percent agree and I love that you stated that you have
Speaker:like specific days because like for me, in my business I have a specific
Speaker:CEO day and that's where I work on like the really high level stuff, the
Speaker:content creation, things like that.
Speaker:And that's the day that I work on that stuff so that I don't get distracted
Speaker:throughout the week because I think.
Speaker:It's so true.
Speaker:Like when you just have a million things on your task list and you don't
Speaker:dedicate the time to it, you just end up getting lost in a bunch of
Speaker:different things that are going on.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Yes, precisely.
Speaker:You definitely hit the nail on the head there.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: So now you said your system helps
Speaker:business owners reclaim at least an extra eight plus hours a week.
Speaker:Can you give us like a peek into how that works, which I think you already
Speaker:explained a little bit about it.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Yeah.
Speaker:So, i, so on Monday I call it admin day.
Speaker:So it's like
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: you would give an
Speaker:administrative assistant.
Speaker:Usually it's like more tactical type of tasks.
Speaker:It's sending out agreements, it's getting to inbox zero, it's.
Speaker:Answering messages.
Speaker:It can be filing receipts.
Speaker:It's all those really tactical tasks that some people might be like,
Speaker:well, that system sounds stupid.
Speaker:The whole thing is, is when we don't nip those in the bud at the beginning
Speaker:of the week, they tend to bleed into the rest of the week, which bleeds
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: We're just like, oh my
Speaker:gosh, there's so much stuff.
Speaker:You know what?
Speaker:Why don't we just tackle all that stuff, tie up all those loose threads
Speaker:into a pretty pink bow on Monday.
Speaker:Then Tuesday through Friday, we can really drill down and focus
Speaker:on the stuff that's super crucial and critical for the business.
Speaker:When we don't get all those tasks done, all those like miscellaneous
Speaker:tasks, they tend to just suck up so much time throughout the week.
Speaker:So I just like to get it outta my head, get it all done on Monday, and
Speaker:then Tuesday, content creation day or meeting day, depending on the business.
Speaker:So I'm a business coach, so my Tuesday is meetings.
Speaker:All day, like I'm coaching all day.
Speaker:And then Wednesday is your sales and marketing day.
Speaker:So what I find is most women are really, and I don't know if your like target
Speaker:demographic listener is female, I would assume it maybe skews a little bit
Speaker:female And Wednesday's 20% of your week.
Speaker:So if you will spend an entire day doing nothing but sales and marketing
Speaker:efforts, your business will grow.
Speaker:Like most people think that posting on Instagram is their
Speaker:sales and marketing efforts.
Speaker:So we do that all day, which leads to pretty explosive growth if you'll do that
Speaker:for just one quarter and then Thursdays.
Speaker:A day to pick a project, a big hairy project.
Speaker:All the ones
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: the can down the road.
Speaker:Onboarding sequence, offboarding sequence.
Speaker:A referral program, affiliate program, all these big projects, we could
Speaker:pick one and do it on Thursday.
Speaker:That day is inspired by Cal Newport's book Deep Work.
Speaker:I love having like a big juicy, deep work session to just
Speaker:knock out a crucial project.
Speaker:It's how I've done everything I've done on my business in the last 12
Speaker:months and then Friday, CEO day.
Speaker:So measuring metrics.
Speaker:I love that you're so big on this, on threads.
Speaker:I'm like, praise the
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Praise the Lord.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: besides me is saying this is, you have
Speaker:to know the state of your business and
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: know it if you're not measuring anything?
Speaker:And most, self-made multimillionaires who own small businesses have said
Speaker:that their success was tied to one thing, and that was measuring
Speaker:their numbers at regular intervals and developing strategy around it.
Speaker:So it, the, the whole bedrock of your CEO day should be.
Speaker:Measuring those important numbers.
Speaker:So KPI is short for key performance indicator.
Speaker:It's a
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: snobbish person's way of
Speaker:saying the important numbers.
Speaker:Like some people are like, what's that?
Speaker:Well, I don't know.
Speaker:People make up stupid names so that they sound smart.
Speaker:But it's just that important numbers in your business.
Speaker:You measure 'em, you do strategy around them.
Speaker:I pay my team.
Speaker:I look at my financials, I look at how profitable I am.
Speaker:I see what's
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: It's just a day to basically, I like
Speaker:to say it's like rising up above like a bird, looking down on my business.
Speaker:happening, and that's the day that prevents me from getting
Speaker:in the weeds in my business.
Speaker:Most like, you know, a fancy way of saying it is like it's where you can work on
Speaker:your business, not just in your business.
Speaker:Well, to me, I'm like, what does that even mean?
Speaker:So I just like to say it's like rising up and looking at a bird's eye view.
Speaker:What's happening are these numbers, I like to say your KPI
Speaker:dashboard, like whispering screams.
Speaker:They are telling you like, alert, alert, this is dangerous.
Speaker:You need to fix this.
Speaker:Or they're like, keep Good job Samantha.
Speaker:Keep going.
Speaker:This is going great.
Speaker:They're fortune tellers for your business.
Speaker:And so how can we run a successful business?
Speaker:How can we even know what content to produce we have no clue?
Speaker:What's happening in our business?
Speaker:I don't, I actually don't understand how people are running businesses
Speaker:without measuring their numbers because how do you, well, this will speak to
Speaker:you sweet One is they just open their bank account and they think that's
Speaker:whether or not they're successful.
Speaker:And it's like your,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: account has nothing to do.
Speaker:If you're doing a good job as a business owner, it actually doesn't even tell you
Speaker:how much money you have as a business
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: it doesn't.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: of the week.
Speaker:And so basically by chunking within that, and that doesn't mean, so
Speaker:someone might be listening and they're like, well, I'm a health coach.
Speaker:What do I do the rest of the day?
Speaker:No, that's just what you're, you're chunking your day like that for the
Speaker:beginning of the day to really strengthen your business, not just make more content
Speaker:all the time, and then the rest of the day do whatever the heck you feel like doing.
Speaker:Whatever your business requires is what you're doing.
Speaker:But by following that routine, that ritual, our business is
Speaker:getting holistically healthy.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I see that are failing.
Speaker:One or all five of those pieces is missing in a really big way, and all
Speaker:they're doing is posting on threads, YouTube, Instagram, praying to God.
Speaker:They go viral and make $700,000 like their guru they look up to,
Speaker:and it's like that ship has sailed.
Speaker:It is not 2021 anymore.
Speaker:We're not in post COD.
Speaker:Everybody's home on their phone.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: you
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: figure out.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: figure out a different way to grow
Speaker:your business, you're just gonna keep banging your head against the wall.
Speaker:Going viral in this day and age.
Speaker:And I know, 'cause I've coached plenty of them.
Speaker:often than not people say, I wish it never happened.
Speaker:'cause you end
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: misaligned followers, tons of dms
Speaker:from people who want free stuff.
Speaker:They're not planning on buying.
Speaker:And so to me, I like to say walk like Warrior's.
Speaker:The brand is like hard work.
Speaker:Good old fashioned business principles.
Speaker:They had a baby.
Speaker:That baby has walked.
Speaker:Like, we're, that's it.
Speaker:I got nothing fancy.
Speaker:I can't help you go viral.
Speaker:I still have never gone viral.
Speaker:But, you know, I've had three back to back multi five figure
Speaker:launches with 1200 followers.
Speaker:So it's like, I don't really care about the viral game.
Speaker:I care
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: business owners actually build, like,
Speaker:build an algorithm proof business.
Speaker:That freaking lights me up like nothing else.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:And I love that because I, I, I feel it, I feel the burnout with social media
Speaker:and I'm just like, I'm so done with it.
Speaker:Like, I don't wanna look at it.
Speaker:And it just feels like you constantly have to be a certain way in order to like,
Speaker:get people to like really look at you.
Speaker:In the way that makes sense.
Speaker:So I'm like, I just wanna like be myself and not have to worry about
Speaker:what other people are thinking.
Speaker:So I love that.
Speaker:I love that.
Speaker:And I think that, you know, obviously content creation and sales and marketing
Speaker:is an important part of business, but I think there's a time and a place for it.
Speaker:And not necessarily like having this consumption in your life.
Speaker:Like we so often see.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: A hundred percent.
Speaker:I think that, I don't know, you can bleep this out of your podcast
Speaker:if you don't like it, but I think some people feel like they have to
Speaker:prostitute themselves for the algorithm.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah, I.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: that.
Speaker:Like I'm not gonna literally do something that I absolutely despise about myself and
Speaker:I'm gonna think less of myself for doing in order to go viral or get a lot of use.
Speaker:Now I'm not saying that good.
Speaker:Social media strategy is not important.
Speaker:But what I am saying is like I feel like what's being prioritized is
Speaker:very like base level shareable stuff.
Speaker:And I show up to serve baby.
Speaker:Like I don't know what else people want from me.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: And if it never goes viral, so be it.
Speaker:Like my
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: where someone could follow
Speaker:walk like warriors and be like.
Speaker:Holy crap, I'm getting so much business strategy and I didn't pay for it.
Speaker:And that's kind of stuff typically is not gonna go viral.
Speaker:It would go viral if I was like, how to make six months
Speaker:of content in four minutes.
Speaker:Oh.
Speaker:Like I wanna know that.
Speaker:Like it's just, to me, I mean, come on, this stuff is, you know, the, the like
Speaker:looping audio for three seconds and then the caption has no value whatsoever.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: no shade or hate to people
Speaker:that are doing that.
Speaker:I'm just saying for me personally as a human being.
Speaker:That doesn't feel authentic to me.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: feels fake and like I'm
Speaker:doing it for the follows.
Speaker:I'm doing it for the shares, I don't wanna build a business that five years from now.
Speaker:I look back on, I'm like, who are you?
Speaker:Like, why
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: are you, do I, I would rather
Speaker:just slow growth, but it feels like me, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah, no, I a hundred percent agree,
Speaker:and I've always been told like, you know, oh, you're giving too much value.
Speaker:You're giving too much value.
Speaker:And I'm like, I would rather give value and have people come to me who value the
Speaker:value that I'm providing, rather than having people who are like, you're giving
Speaker:too much value, like you need to give less value and have them come to you.
Speaker:I'm like.
Speaker:Education is so limited, like education is so limited around things
Speaker:pertaining to business owners, and I don't wanna be a block to someone
Speaker:else who just needs one little piece of advice to further their business.
Speaker:Like, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker:I'm not gonna do their bookkeeping for a hundred percent free, but am I gonna
Speaker:tell them, Hey, you should separate your business and personal finances.
Speaker:Hey, you shouldn't just look at your bank account.
Speaker:Absolutely.
Speaker:I don't care how many times I say it because it's important that they know.
Speaker:That kind of stuff.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I will say.
Speaker:Someone had said to me about a year ago, I had like 40 followers, and
Speaker:they were like, it's only a matter of time before you blow up and go viral.
Speaker:And I was like, you know, I didn't know why she said it, but she's like,
Speaker:you pack so much value into this page.
Speaker:Well, it still hasn't happened.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: think that about you on threads.
Speaker:I'm like, this is the most value I feel like of anybody spinning up content
Speaker:is this, this account right here.
Speaker:I'm not blowing smoke at you either.
Speaker:Like legitimately, when I see someone like you showing up and
Speaker:serving that actually has strategy.
Speaker:Holy, holy smokes.
Speaker:I'm like, she actually knows what she's doing, which is such a
Speaker:refreshing, I feel like there's a lot of inauthenticity on social and a
Speaker:lot of people playing business owner.
Speaker:Do you know what I'm
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it, I don't care if there's a business
Speaker:coach who never owned their own business.
Speaker:You might still know a lot about business, but you can tell in
Speaker:someone's content do they actually know what they're talking about?
Speaker:Or are they just like a complete fraud?
Speaker:And as soon as I saw your account, I was like, okay, this person clearly knows.
Speaker:A lot about what they're talking about, and I just wanna tell you, I seriously
Speaker:wanna give you such a big shout out.
Speaker:It was truly refreshing to see somebody showing up and serving
Speaker:with so much value on the daily.
Speaker:It's not easy to do.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Thank you.
Speaker:I really appreciate that.
Speaker:And I mean that's, that's one of my core things, right?
Speaker:Like as a woman of faith as well, like I just feel like serving and
Speaker:I feel like serving in a sense that like helps others because that's
Speaker:what I feel very called to do.
Speaker:So.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it.
Speaker:I love it.
Speaker:I think we, you know, when we've got that as our, as our foundation, there's a part
Speaker:of it that becomes not about business.
Speaker:It becomes character.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: And maybe
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: again, and I'm not saying someone is
Speaker:wrong for trying to go viral, what I'm saying is I. know there are certain
Speaker:topics I could touch on that would be more likely to help me go viral, but
Speaker:I'm like, this is not, just not me.
Speaker:It's not, I
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: that's how I wanna show
Speaker:up and serve people.
Speaker:And I, I, there's so much gatekeeping too.
Speaker:It's like, well, if I give too much away for free, they're not gonna buy for me.
Speaker:I have found the opposite to be
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes, absolutely.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: so I just wish.
Speaker:Again, there's, and now I don't know if you've seen the whole trend, like
Speaker:stop posting educational content.
Speaker:It doesn't
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I'm like, everything I've built has
Speaker:been based on educational content.
Speaker:It won't help you be re-shared a bajillion times and thus go viral
Speaker:or end up on the explore page.
Speaker:But I think that the people who vibe with that.
Speaker:people who appreciate someone showing up consistently and pouring into them.
Speaker:Those are the exact people that will buy from you.
Speaker:Those are the people who are the most engaged.
Speaker:You know, who doesn't buy from you.
Speaker:You posted some hilarious reel that was super relatable, so they followed you
Speaker:'cause they thought Samantha's so funny.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I'm sorry, we, I, I don't
Speaker:buy a lot from comedians.
Speaker:I don't think I've ever spent a dollar on a comedian.
Speaker:So it's like you don't want him getting whiplash either.
Speaker:Like you went viral for the super funny, relatable thing.
Speaker:Then you try to sell and then you end up with this massive following
Speaker:that doesn't wanna buy from you,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:Yeah, no, I a hundred percent agree.
Speaker:'cause like that's what I do on my podcast too, is all I do is really talk about
Speaker:value and education and things like that.
Speaker:And I think that that's so important.
Speaker:And I've had people before, like the thing is, even if you give away
Speaker:that much education, right, that person's brain is never gonna work
Speaker:the same way that your brain does.
Speaker:That's why you do what you do.
Speaker:That's why people are drawn to you.
Speaker:So the way I'm speaking, I can speak all the time and educate them about
Speaker:everything that I can, but their brain just isn't gonna work that same way.
Speaker:Some will, most won't.
Speaker:And the people that brain doesn't work that way are gonna wanna work with you.
Speaker:'cause they're like, I can't do that.
Speaker:Help me.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Yeah, a really interesting
Speaker:example of this.
Speaker:So that's part of it is they're buying you, they're buying
Speaker:your brain, they're buying your
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Some of it also is
Speaker:maybe they can copy you.
Speaker:Exactly.
Speaker:They don't have the time to, and there, there's a whole
Speaker:niche there where it's like
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: wanna hit the easy button and be
Speaker:like, well, I could do it myself.
Speaker:But
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I. It's just as smart as me.
Speaker:Maybe more so, so I'm gonna hire her.
Speaker:And you see this with, I love the company StoryBrand, Donald
Speaker:Miller's company called StoryBrand.
Speaker:They
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Tell you the entire system.
Speaker:And at the end they're like, you can hire one of our certified guides and
Speaker:it's, you know, the bajillion dollars.
Speaker:But the reason that they can give everything away for free and people
Speaker:still hire the guide, is that someone like me, I'm so close to
Speaker:my own business that I can't always see the forests for the trees.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: that's where too, there's a lot of
Speaker:service-based business providers.
Speaker:Like I was coaching a virtual assistant last year.
Speaker:I'm like, you could tell them your entire organizational system.
Speaker:They'll still hire you because so many of them are like me, and I'm like,
Speaker:I just wanna hit the easy button.
Speaker:Where is that button?
Speaker:I just
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: to do it for me.
Speaker:And so you also unlock a whole new level of profitability in your
Speaker:business, as you know, because the people who have more money than time,
Speaker:they'll pay you really good money to hit the easy button for them.
Speaker:Even though they could do what you do, they want you to do it
Speaker:because you're clearly good at it.
Speaker:You've shown up online, you've shown that you know your stuff,
Speaker:that this doesn't apply to everyone, but it's like I even tell health
Speaker:coaches, why are you gatekeeping?
Speaker:I'm not
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: coach 'cause you have some mysterious
Speaker:knowledge that's not clear.
Speaker:I'm hiring you for the accountability.
Speaker:So you could
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:School
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: program, but I'm not
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I'm not,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: for the knowledge.
Speaker:I can get that on YouTube or from chat GPT I'm
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: you to hold me accountable.
Speaker:And so this is where I think the gatekeeping people still do it.
Speaker:And it blows my mind because I'm like, will only hire someone
Speaker:that I think can help me.
Speaker:And how do I
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: How do I,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: me if you've never
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: of value with me?
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Absolutely.
Speaker:I a hundred percent agree.
Speaker:Now, to branch off of that, like a lot of business owners struggle to
Speaker:delegate or automate because they think, well, no one else can do it like me.
Speaker:How do we help people shift that mindset?
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: that is a huge thing that I
Speaker:hear from business owners, and there's a couple points here.
Speaker:One is, is that none of us are the best at every area of our business.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: an entrepreneur that thinks that every
Speaker:aspect of your business, you are the absolute best at, I, I have a little
Speaker:the talk to have with you about pride because no one is the best at everything
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: and part of growth and scalability is
Speaker:releasing control of what isn't going to hurt the vision of the business.
Speaker:So I believe most people, their first hire.
Speaker:It should be somewhere in this category, is you, you need to
Speaker:have a good virtual assistant.
Speaker:You need to have a good bookkeeper slash cpa.
Speaker:So, so CFO in whatever, I mean, a $50,000 a year business doesn't need a CFO, but
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: someone to help the inform their financial
Speaker:strategy and that at some point a social media person to help take that content
Speaker:creation monkey weight off of your back.
Speaker:Those three roles will eventually need to be hired.
Speaker:And what I have always found to be true is when you're hiring for
Speaker:someone who's in that zone of genius.
Speaker:They do it better and they do it faster, those two things.
Speaker:Another thing I would say
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I would say.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: you is, and if I call you sweet one, I'm
Speaker:sorry, that's just what I call people, but I really care about them, but.
Speaker:I would trust that you are way more aware of software and tools and what's trending
Speaker:and this new law that just got passed.
Speaker:'cause like you lively breathe this stuff and to me I'm like, well I'm good at it.
Speaker:I can do it myself.
Speaker:But at some point it's like I either don't want to 'cause I don't have the time or
Speaker:bandwidth or this person is obsessed with the industry that they operate within.
Speaker:So they're gonna know way more than you the, they don't do it just like me.
Speaker:One is the humility to say, yeah, but Samantha's way is probably
Speaker:better 'cause this is her industry.
Speaker:And if it's those things where you're like, I don't care,
Speaker:it has to be done like this.
Speaker:What I
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: What I
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: owners to do is I share
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: share.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I have a Zoom meeting with
Speaker:one and that would be myself.
Speaker:And I say, alright, so when you get to this page, you're gonna click on
Speaker:the top left button and it's green.
Speaker:And then, then you're, and you literally can do it.
Speaker:And then they watch the video and you know what happens when, so you're, you onboard
Speaker:someone, you give them the Zoom video.
Speaker:do it just like you 'cause they do it alongside you.
Speaker:And
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: them use that Zoom video every
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: every time they do it.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it's quote unquote just like me.
Speaker:There's very few things in my business that need to be done just like me.
Speaker:But those ones, it's like that's how you can offload.
Speaker:And the other thing I really love about building a training manual with Zoom
Speaker:videos of you teaching it, it's evergreen.
Speaker:So if things don't work out with a social media manager or a va, you don't have
Speaker:to spend all that time retraining them.
Speaker:It's
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: and you just share the
Speaker:video with the next person.
Speaker:It ensures that it is done just like you.
Speaker:For those, it's a small amount of tasks, but I'm sure there are things that all
Speaker:of us want done a very specific way.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: but the other
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Other thing is no
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: training can capture all that
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: one.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: live.
Speaker:It's much more helpful for them to be able to follow along to a video
Speaker:until they get the hang of it.
Speaker:So that is, to me, the best way to offload things to other people.
Speaker:But I think that, especially with VAs and bookkeepers, like those two
Speaker:things, when you hire the right person, there's so much faster than you and
Speaker:they see things in your blind spot.
Speaker:And by definition.
Speaker:It's your blind spot, so you
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: like, I don't have blind spots.
Speaker:Well, the by very definition, you don't know that it's there and adding a fresh
Speaker:set of eyes to your business, ooh, it is like that rainbow sprinkles on the sundae.
Speaker:It's that extra like oomph that your business needs, but you don't know
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it.
Speaker:So like quote unquote even, and I hate that word for VAs.
Speaker:I started out as an administrative assistant.
Speaker:I love that role and I think the right person, they actually, that is one of
Speaker:the most important roles of all time for a business owner to hire for.
Speaker:But.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: They, they help me see blind spots
Speaker:in my business that it's like getting hit in the head with a baseball bat.
Speaker:I'm like, I didn't even realize that.
Speaker:I didn't even realize that that was happening.
Speaker:So that's another thing is I hear a lot of business owners like, I'm
Speaker:an island and I just wish I had, is why you help have people help you
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: collaboration.
Speaker:So, and I, that's when I, I see that a lot with your posts.
Speaker:I'm like, see, this is somebody who's like a strategic partner.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: and if there's one area that's
Speaker:super weak, for the women, at least in my circle it is.
Speaker:Metrics and financials is just like.
Speaker:Popping open stripe and that's how much money we have.
Speaker:And I'm like, no,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: please stop doing that.
Speaker:That has nothing to do with anything or, you know, they'll overspend because
Speaker:they had one good month in their business and then the next month they're
Speaker:laying off their va. I'm just like,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: we, we need to do better.
Speaker:We need to operate a little bit more like CEOs in less like hobbyists.
Speaker:And that does start with those key hires when you're profitable
Speaker:enough for that to make sense.
Speaker:I don't think someone making $50 a month should be hiring a team member,
Speaker:but there are certainly some benchmarks and least in my mind where, yeah, this
Speaker:is a good point at which you need to be
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: somebody to take this off your plate.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah, no, I 110% agree.
Speaker:Now, again, to branch off of that, like what are some of the common mistakes
Speaker:that you see that keep business owners stuck working those nights and weekends?
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: The biggest mistake that leads to
Speaker:working nights and weekends is not having a workflow or a, you pop
Speaker:open the laptop and it's Monday, and this is what I do and this is the
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: do it in.
Speaker:And when you can begin to formulate.
Speaker:A workflow for your week that strengthens every side of the business, you
Speaker:actually can turn off your work brain.
Speaker:So for me, and so like it's, it's basically like kind of in a, a Google
Speaker:sheet with little, like done or not done.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I finish that, doesn't matter if
Speaker:it's 11 in the morning on a Monday, I can, with full confidence and feeling
Speaker:good about myself, say I'm done.
Speaker:There's always more.
Speaker:It's kind of like you know, if you go to college, one of the things I think that's
Speaker:really cool about going to college is like the scales fall off your eyes and for
Speaker:the first time in your life, maybe you're like, there's so much more to learn.
Speaker:That's where being a business owner, there's so much more to do, but the
Speaker:way that when you can structure your days where you've got that, and so
Speaker:I'm not, so I wanna just be clear.
Speaker:I'm not trying
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I'm.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: somebody into my program.
Speaker:You can literally do this with an index card.
Speaker:That says Monday and just this stuff that's strategic that you know is gonna
Speaker:actually move your business forward.
Speaker:And you work that every single day.
Speaker:And what happens is after about five or six Mondays, you get faster,
Speaker:you get more efficient, you're able to do it in half the time,
Speaker:and you start feeling really good.
Speaker:Like you know that because of our spaghetti brains,
Speaker:Samantha, you didn't do this.
Speaker:You didn't do that.
Speaker:Yeah, but I do that on Wednesday.
Speaker:So that's fine.
Speaker:It's all fine.
Speaker:It's Monday.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: to do that because I'm gonna do that,
Speaker:and all of a sudden we start to have margin and breathing room in our week.
Speaker:So that's really the biggest mistake I see people making is, is
Speaker:the ping ponging, and I don't know a better word, somebody said it.
Speaker:I feel like I'm playing dodgeball with my to-do list.
Speaker:That's another way to view it.
Speaker:basically just waking up every day and flying by the seat of your pants is the
Speaker:absolute worst way to run a business.
Speaker:It costs you
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: costs you money, and it leads to
Speaker:burnout because you're working nights and weekends to stay caught up.
Speaker:And I want you watching the Disney movie without creating a reel.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: you out on a date with your husband
Speaker:without checking dms like a maniac.
Speaker:Like that's not the way to live.
Speaker:Balanced.
Speaker:And what happens is, our first year in business, anyone can do that.
Speaker:This is why I like papers.
Speaker:I don't care.
Speaker:Business coaches will criticize me on, Instagram threads.
Speaker:Like, oh, well, I like working weekends.
Speaker:Everybody likes working weekends until they burn out.
Speaker:And your first 12 months in business, 24 months maybe.
Speaker:There's so much dopamine.
Speaker:You are flooding your system with happy endorphins.
Speaker:Like everything is exciting and it feels good, and you get the ping
Speaker:like you just made a sale and like,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: but after a while, it's kind of like
Speaker:when you're dating someone, right?
Speaker:You don't realize that he chews super loud and he leaves his shoes everywhere
Speaker:and you're tripping over his socks like.
Speaker:Because you are so flooded with happy hormones, you don't
Speaker:actually see it for what it is.
Speaker:And I'm not saying that's bad, but eventually the scales fall outta
Speaker:your eyes and you're like, oh, He's not literally the most perfect
Speaker:human being that God ever created.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: happens with our businesses,
Speaker:and that's why I'm so passionate about this topic, because anyone
Speaker:can do anything for 12 months.
Speaker:once those endorphins calm down.
Speaker:All of a sudden I see so many women quitting their business,
Speaker:and it's almost always from burnout, exhaustion, or overwhelm.
Speaker:And that's why I'm really passionate about fence posts around our work time.
Speaker:It doesn't
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: It doesn't matter that you like it.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: it all day every day.
Speaker:I did
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I do too.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: that eventually fades and it
Speaker:starts to feel more like a grind, which is why it's so important
Speaker:to have these systems in place.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:And I love that.
Speaker:And I think that's so true because if you start working just hours, and I think
Speaker:I've started to feel that too, where I'm like in my second year of business
Speaker:and sometimes I'm like working past that 5:00 PM mark and I'm like, Hmm, I
Speaker:don't really wanna be working right now.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Yes.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I'm like, I love it, but I don't
Speaker:wanna be working right now.
Speaker:And that's where that setting up that boundary, being like, okay, I'm
Speaker:stopping at five, I'm not doing anything else, is gonna become so, so helpful.
Speaker:For sure.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: yes, for sure.
Speaker:And another tip, 'cause like I don't want anyone to feel like they
Speaker:have to hire me as their coach, but
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: those things that always happen as, so
Speaker:behind me I have these bookcases, right?
Speaker:Like as bookends.
Speaker:So what in your Monday happens at the same time every day?
Speaker:Is it the bus pulls up in front of your house?
Speaker:And the door's open and your
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: That's your bookmark.
Speaker:That's when it's like, I'm shutting down at this time.
Speaker:Or you drive the kids to school and you get home and maybe you put
Speaker:on Netflix or you go this or that.
Speaker:Well, instead, it's kind of like Atomic Habits talks about,
Speaker:it's like that habit stacking is no, you pull into the driveway.
Speaker:You stop the car, you start the Keurig, you make your cup, and
Speaker:then your butt is in your seat, like that's the marker of your day.
Speaker:And so these bookends can really be powerful.
Speaker:Those things that are recurring can function as like, these are checkpoints
Speaker:in my day, and at this time this happens, and at this time I'm done.
Speaker:I'm a huge fan of having fence posts around our work blocks
Speaker:because now this is different.
Speaker:Like if someone's got a 1-year-old and a baby.
Speaker:get that you're trying to feel, you are trying to put your
Speaker:business in the cracks of your day.
Speaker:That's not my target demographic.
Speaker:So if someone's listening and they're like, well, most of you, nice for her.
Speaker:I have four kids.
Speaker:But yeah, in full transparency, my oldest two are married, so I have, I
Speaker:treat this like a full-time business.
Speaker:If someone's got lots of little kids, that's not my tar target demographic.
Speaker:You'd be better off listening to a business coach who
Speaker:teaches you like building your business in the cracks of the
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: But it's really
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: It's really hard to feel that way.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: be completely exhausted all
Speaker:the time because you can never.
Speaker:Put it in the off switch position, and I think that long term, that's
Speaker:a pretty unhealthy way to live.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah, yeah.
Speaker:No, I, completely agree.
Speaker:Now, pivoting to sales and marketing, selling confidently without
Speaker:feeling salesy is such a huge challenge for many entrepreneurs.
Speaker:What's your approach to making sales feel more natural and effective?
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Do you have an hour?
Speaker:let me try to make, I'm gonna try to just distill this down to its
Speaker:simplest points and keep it short.
Speaker:One is, is there's two ways to parent.
Speaker:Your kid is afraid of water.
Speaker:One is go inch by inch into the water until they're comfortable.
Speaker:The other parent is the one that just throws them in the deep end
Speaker:and like, ah, they'll figure it out.
Speaker:So I'm going to leave the deep end stuff and I can coach people that
Speaker:way if they're more comfortable, like, Hey, just throw me into it.
Speaker:But sometimes baby stepping into selling with confidence.
Speaker:And so like social proof, screenshots.
Speaker:With a link to buy is like the ultimate way to sell without selling.
Speaker:Like I don't wanna show my face.
Speaker:Just do that, but do it consistently.
Speaker:So like, let's pretend, so I told you Wednesday's growth day.
Speaker:What if every Wednesday you got into Instagram stories or you went
Speaker:on threads or whatever in your email that you send to your list?
Speaker:'cause everyone should be doing that.
Speaker:you just post a screenshot with like, buy now or This is me, Samantha, I want this.
Speaker:Like, that's a good way to baby stop into selling
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Um, another thing is, is just do like
Speaker:a tap through story where every time someone taps the next thing appears,
Speaker:kind of warming yourself up to
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: to actually talk about what you have.
Speaker:I will say that when women come to me for coaching and they say, I'm
Speaker:not making any sales, and I say, well, how often are you selling?
Speaker:How often are you asking for the sale?
Speaker:Well, I mean, the link is in my bio and I say, comment the word no, no, no.
Speaker:Like how often are you
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Are.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: You're forcing sales, like you're going
Speaker:in there with the intention and usually it's like, well, once every 12 weeks,
Speaker:so anyone listening, you can really increase your sales by just twice a week.
Speaker:You make a point that you're gonna get into Instagram stories and sell.
Speaker:You're gonna sell in every single email that you send.
Speaker:People will unfollow.
Speaker:Well, I'm sorry.
Speaker:Is your account to be prom queen or is it to make sales?
Speaker:'cause mine's to make sales.
Speaker:Like I want a business.
Speaker:If I wanted to be popular, I would be doing the little three
Speaker:second reel with how to make 27.
Speaker:Months of content in one minute with Chad, GPT.
Speaker:Like
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: make sales, you have to sell.
Speaker:But baby stepping your way there.
Speaker:So first you could just start with screenshots.
Speaker:Then you could start with just like text on screen.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: you can move on to B roll like
Speaker:you're typing away and the words are over top with a link to buy.
Speaker:And then maybe after five or six weeks, maybe you're getting some
Speaker:interest in the dms or what have you.
Speaker:Then you force yourself to get in stories and actually talk about it.
Speaker:'cause nothing sells like enthusiasm.
Speaker:Like enthusiasm is it?
Speaker:And so if you need a baby step, I love Shannon McKinstry.
Speaker:She's an Instagram coach.
Speaker:I. She talks about like, to get comfortable showing your
Speaker:face is, you know, wear big old sunglasses and have like a big
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: A big Starbucks drink.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: of hide, but just make these checkpoints,
Speaker:make a list on a, on a post-it note
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: just like week one, I'm gonna do this.
Speaker:Week two, I'm gonna do this baby step your way into selling.
Speaker:But nothing builds confidence like a result you get for a customer.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: where a lot of people go wrong
Speaker:is they roll out all this crap and it's not getting any results.
Speaker:So no one's in their dms.
Speaker:Like, I'm not bragging, I'm just saying like this morning when I woke
Speaker:up, I had three dms from my Success squad girls about wins they're having.
Speaker:So like that's the ultimate confidence boost is you're
Speaker:literally changing someone's life.
Speaker:And so I don't have to fake it till I make it.
Speaker:It's like help more women.
Speaker:Build these businesses of their dreams without sacrificing their
Speaker:families or themselves to do it.
Speaker:And so the ultimate, ultimate end goal is build something really
Speaker:awesome that's getting results and then let those results like spur
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Speak.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: to share it with more people.
Speaker:Sorry, I said that was gonna be
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yes.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: I can't do anything like that, but.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: No, that's totally fine.
Speaker:I mean, while we're on these tangents, you're answering a lot
Speaker:of the questions, so that's great for someone feeling overwhelmed.
Speaker:It's buried in work, and unsure where to start, what's the first step they
Speaker:need to take to reclaim their time?
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: Oh man, this is a good one.
Speaker:So this will be a little outside the box, but it doesn't serve a woman well
Speaker:for me to help her cram more activity.
Speaker:Into a cram schedule.
Speaker:So I like to have people zoom out and make open a digital calendar
Speaker:or paper calendar works too.
Speaker:if I was doing this with you, Samantha, I would say, all right, first things first.
Speaker:Forget about work.
Speaker:Forget about everything.
Speaker:What are the most important things in your life to you?
Speaker:So you might say, it's my marriage, it's my faith, it's my kids.
Speaker:I like to serve at a soup
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Okay.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: All right, don't do anything else.
Speaker:Put those in first.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: All right.
Speaker:Next.
Speaker:If you've got a nine to five job and you're side hustling,
Speaker:put the nine to five like next.
Speaker:Put your immovable commitments that you have, whether it's work or whatever.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:I know.
Speaker:It's like, what are we doing right now?
Speaker:The white space left is the spot you have for your business,
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: and until people do that and rise
Speaker:above their schedule and look at it very cold and calculating, not with
Speaker:emotion, we can't build anything because usually just that exercise.
Speaker:Women have a lot of aha moments.
Speaker:They either have way more time than they thought they had, and they
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: they're really wasting a lot by not being
Speaker:strategic they have hardly any time.
Speaker:And that's why they feel so overwhelmed is they're trying to do a 40 hour
Speaker:a week business and they've got three and a half hours a week.
Speaker:That's
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yep.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: an important aha moment.
Speaker:So we would start
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Start there.
Speaker:Um,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: what I
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: what I found is,
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: It doesn't
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: doesn't
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: if
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: matter, I
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: build the business of your dreams.
Speaker:If your personal life is in the toilet a year from
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: I hear from now
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: a very unhappy person.
Speaker:So
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: why I start there because I can say
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Say
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: marriage to Keith is the
Speaker:most important thing to me.

Speaker:I know that a year from now my business could be a multi seven
Speaker:figure business, and I'm still not going to feel a lot of joy.
Speaker:Or fulfillment it no amount of money.
Speaker:That's why you look at, I mean it's, I hate to say this 'cause it's so dark, but
Speaker:you look at all of the rich and famous people that commit suicide or are addicts,
Speaker:it's because money is not enough to
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:kelly---walk-like-warriors_1_03-18-2025_150057: our human urges.
Speaker:And so I always start women there is, I want them to
Speaker:really build their ideal week.
Speaker:They're like, they're values driven week first and see what kind of time we're
Speaker:looking at, and then we work backward and say, okay, with this amount of hours,
Speaker:this is what you can do to optimize what you're doing in your business.
Speaker:samantha-eck_1_03-18-2025_140055: Yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:No, I love that, and I think that's so true.
Speaker:I do.
Speaker:But Kelly, this has been such an amazing interview and I think you've given so much
Speaker:value in education, and I just wanna know where my audience can find you and connect
Speaker:with you so that they can learn more about you and potentially work with you.

Speaker:Freedom in business isn't built by running yourself into the ground.
Speaker:It's built by slowing down enough to get clear on what actually matters.
Speaker:You don't need 10,000 followers.
Speaker:You don't need to go viral.
Speaker:You just need systems that work with your brain, not against it.
Speaker:You need the right offers, the right rhythms, and the right kind of support.
Speaker:And most of all, you need to believe that building slow, sustainable, soul
Speaker:aligned success is more than enough.
Speaker:Kelly's story is such a powerful reminder that profit doesn't require pressure
Speaker:and peace doesn't mean playing small.
Speaker:So if you're ready to reclaim your time and lead with intention, I'm
Speaker:cheering you on every step of the way.
